Indiana Do Not Call Registry

Indiana Do Not Call Registry Information

Indiana Attorney General's Telephone Privacy List

You know the sound - your phone is ringing - again. Often times it's a telemarketer on the other end or you could pick up the phone and hear nothing - possibly the result of a call from a computerized telemarketer. Because so many Indiana residents asked for help in this matter, a Telephone Privacy List has been established for Indiana citizens to help reduce these unwanted calls.

If you want to reduce unsolicited calls, join your friends and neighbors in registering for the Telephone Privacy List today! This program is offered free of charge to Indiana residents.

Registration can be done online or by telephone. It takes approximately two minutes to register. Only the adult whose name the phone number(s) is under has to register. You may register any residential (home) phone numbers listed under your name.

The information provided is kept confidential and used only to compile and manage the Telephone Privacy List.

To register online, go to: http://www.in.gov/attorneygeneral/2446.htm

You may also call 1-888-834-9969.

PSC is required by the FCC under 47 C.F.R. 64. 1200(g) to inform their customers of the:

DO-NOT-CALL NOTIFICATION

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Trade Commission (FTC) are now sharing responsibility for enforcing the National Do-Not-Call list. The FCC now requires all telecommunication carriers that provide Local Exchange Service to notify their subscribers of their rights as they relate to the Do-Not-Call rules. You have the right to give or revoke an objection to receiving telephone solicitations. To register or revoke your registration, please call 1-888-382-1222 (TTY 1-866-290-4236) or via the Internet at www.donotcall.gov.

The national registry prevents telephone solicitations made by commercial purposes only, and will not prevent telephone solicitations made by a tax-exempt nonprofit organization, for example, for charitable or political purposes. Also, the registry will not prevent calls from companies with whom you may have an established business relationship.

The FCC has defined an established business relationship as one in which the consumer has "a prior or existing relationship" with a company that is formed voluntarily through communications between the company and the consumer on the basis of a purchase or transaction regarding products or services within eighteen (18) months immediately preceding a telephone solicitation, and which has not been previously terminated by either the consumer or the company. Such as established business relationship also exists on the basis of a consumer inquiry regarding a company's products or services within three (3) months immediately preceding the date of a telephone solicitation, and which has not been previously terminated by either the consumer or the company.
